Emma LARSSON

  • In Emma Larsson’s watercolors, extravagant and colorful vegetation flourishes, fungal forms abound with multiple eyes and toxic halo. Each watercolor is enhanced with dry pastel, markers, color pencils, pigments, spray. All these layers of colors offer a delightful set of textures, matters and transparencies. The pure joy of colors and shapes in organic compositions.

Emma Larsson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1977. She lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Since her teenage years, Emma has had her own art studio. Even though she studied art, she did not do higher art education as she started to have a large family. She considers herself self-taught. She describes her work as an ongoing exploration without rules and conventions, continually generating new forms, patterns and themes. Larsson’s watercolors are in constant flow. She is not analytic. Emma’s paintings are purely intuitive, they source from pleasure and freedom. In her spare time, she walks in the virgin forests Stockholm. She finds most of her inspiration in nature’s shapes, colors and patterns, leading to abstract and moving forms in her paintings.
